From August 12th to 16th, 2024, the “Rural Revitalization Environmental Initiative, China Packaging in Action,” organized by the China Packaging Federation and co-hosted by Shanghai Ailu, was held in Qingyang, Gansu Province. Ailu, alongside numerous packaging companies, embarked on this environmental charity journey.
01: ESG Environmental Forum – Discussing a Sustainable Future
On the morning of August 12th, the “China Packaging in Action” ESG Environmental Forum kicked off the event. Wu Hongjun, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Packaging Federation, discussed the current state and opportunities of China’s packaging industry. Du Junhai, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Packaging Co., Ltd., delivered a speech expressing the company’s commitment to environmental protection.
As a representative of the packaging industry, Zhao Bo, Product Marketing Director of Shanghai Ailu Packaging Co., shared insights at the forum on how companies can deepen ESG practices through innovative technology and sustainable packaging research. He also presented Ailu’s efforts and valuable experiences in implementing a sustainable strategy.
02: Dialogue with Ziwuling – Protecting Our Green Homeland
Ziwuling serves as an ecological barrier in Northwest China and an oasis on the Loess Plateau. On August 13th, the team visited Ziwuling, exploring its forests and learning about the region’s vegetation distribution, biodiversity, and wildlife conservation efforts.
While in the mountains, the team collected trash and jointly issued an environmental protection initiative, calling on society to pay more attention to ecological conservation and actively participate in environmental protection actions. They also engaged in in-depth discussions with local environmental protection departments, gaining insights into ecological management and future plans.
03: Building Dreams in Rural Areas – Caring for the Light of Hope
The final stop was Maojing Town Central Primary School, where Shanghai Ailu and Shiseido launched the “Flip Through Books, Cross the Mountains, Love Fills the Classroom” book donation campaign. Many companies participated, and Ailu employees donated nearly a thousand extracurricular books to empower the children of Northwest China. Additionally, school supplies and nutritional materials were provided to all students.
The eagerness for knowledge in the children’s eyes touched everyone. An environmental class themed “Paper and Paper Packaging: Made in China” was held in the classroom, where Ailu’s Product Marketing Director, Mr. Zhao, introduced environmental protection knowledge in an engaging way.
Students and participants wrote their dreams on ESpeed™ eco-friendly packaging paper, folded them into paper planes, and released them together. These planes not only carried the children’s colorful dreams of the summer but also conveyed everyone’s good wishes for a greener Earth, flying into a better future.
Chen Xueqi, Vice General Manager and Board Secretary of Shanghai Ailu, urged, “Each of us can be a force for change in the world. We hope to follow in the footsteps of the China Packaging Federation and, together with all partners of the ‘Rural Revitalization’ Environmental Charity Initiative, continue spreading love so that children grow with positivity. We look forward to more people joining us in creating a sustainable and bright future for the children.”
In this meaningful journey, Shanghai Ailu and the packaging industry, along with upstream and downstream companies, have written a story of responsibility and love. On the path toward future sustainable development, we look forward to more like-minded individuals joining Ailu, actively fulfilling social responsibilities, and advancing together in environmental and public welfare, spreading positive brand energy.
